THE PLUM EDIT

A digital lifestyle publication and private members society.
I work across multi-channels, design editorial layouts for features, and for subscriber newsletters across free and paid tiers. I also art-direct photography and video shoots.

I scaled the Instagram to over 10k followers in under 6 months.

Plum Stories

  • Devised the format for Plum Stories: a single shoot engineered to yield a long-form film, short-form social cut-downs and a written feature. Three finished pieces from one booking.
  • Set the visual language and direct every episode: talent, location, shot list, and edit.
  • The format now carries the publication’s weekly output and is its most recognisable property.

Social Media

With multiple posts a week, I designed the socia media so that each segment had a recognisable identity. These are detailed below.
General feed design to accommodate for 9 posts a week:

    1. Content From Our Arts Expert

These are text heavy posts, with the intention of being educational for the audience. It was important to make the information digestable without feeling intense, whilst being visually interesting.

    2. Shop Push
Advertorial posts to direct viewers to our shop to convert sales from affiliate links.

    3. Sunday Series
Designed to give a preview of my written interview that is posted weekly, highlighting founders and creatives. The written article is published on both the website and substack.

    3. Article Prompt
Designed to direct audience to read bi-weekly articles, written by me, through interesting images.

    Instagram Stories

Audience retention and views on the account’s Instagram stories was an area of value for audience interaction. I created two specific segments to be shared on the stories, to benefit the account in different ways.

    1. Weekend Agenda
This series connected us with restaurants and independent galleries and targeted both our audience in London, but also in Istanbul where a number of The Plum Edit’s audience is. First slide is animated with assets from the places included.

    2. ‘Barbies’
I designed these assets to accompany the affiliate programmes on Amazon, Rakuten and Awin. They were intended as personable activities to connect with the viewer, rather than using stock images of the products.
As a series of 3 story posts, the following two slides highlight the products with affiliate links attached.
